Mathematics Colloquium of Milano: Alessio Figalli
The Departments of Mathematics of the major Milano universities (Università di Milano, Politecnico di Milano, Università di Milano-Bicocca and Università Bocconi) and partner institutions are pleased to announce the second edition of the Mathematics Colloquium of Milano. The series hosts internationally prominent speakers and is addressed to a broad mathematical audience, especially Ph.D. students and post-docs.
The Department of Decision Sciences is pleased to host the fourth lecture of this edition. Please note that registration is required.
Keynote Speaker: Alessio Figalli, ETH Zürich
Title: Exploring Stability in Geometric and Functional Inequalities
Abstract: Geometric and functional inequalities have long been foundational in analysis, shaping our understanding of numerous mathematical and physical phenomena. Recently, attention has turned to questions of stability: if a function is nearly optimal in a known inequality, can we quantify just how close it is to a genuine minimizer? In this talk, I will overview this beautiful topic and discuss some recent results.
