Daniele Durante - A rare distinction for an academic outside America
We are delighted to announce that Professor Daniele Durante, from our esteemed department, has attained a significant milestone by being awarded the prestigious COPSS Emerging Leader Award by the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies (COPSS), representing major statistical associations in the United States and Canada.
Daniele Durante, hailing from Bocconi’s Department of Decision Sciences, has been recognized for his exceptional contributions to statistical graph modeling and Bayesian theory, as well as for his pioneering work in methods for categorical data. Moreover, his dedication to service, mentorship, and innovative outreach initiatives for aspiring data scientists has been commended.
Of particular note is the fact that Daniele Durante stands out as the sole recipient this year who is not affiliated with an American university. Furthermore, his achievement places him among an exclusive group of only three non-US-based academics to have received this esteemed award since its establishment in 2021. This recognition truly marks an extraordinary honor for an academic beyond the borders of the United States.
Congratulations @Daniele Durante!
