Elia Bruè Wins Prestigious ERC Starting Grant for Fluid Turbulence Research

Bocconi University is proud to announce that Prof. Elia Bruè, Full Professor in the Department of Decision Sciences, has been awarded a highly competitive ERC Starting Grant for his project MIND – Mathematical Insights into Dynamics of Incompressible Turbulence.

The project will address one of the great open questions in classical physics: the mathematical nature of turbulence in incompressible fluids. By developing new analytical tools, Professor Bruè aims to shed light on phenomena such as anomalous energy dissipation and the formation of small-scale structures, with implications ranging from atmospheric currents to engineering applications.

The ERC Starting Grant, among the most prestigious recognitions for early-career researchers, will provide significant support to advance this ambitious program. Professor Bruè’s success confirms Bocconi’s growing role in frontier research and reinforces its commitment to investing in young scientific talent.
