Professor Piero Veronese Named Professor Emeritus by Bocconi University
We are delighted to announce that Professor Piero Veronese has been honored with the title of Professor Emeritus by the Italian Ministry of Education and Bocconi University, recognizing his four decades of academic excellence and outstanding contributions to the field of Bayesian statistics and his impactful tenure at Bocconi University.
Professor Veronese has been a pillar of the Department of Decision Sciences since 1987. His leadership as the department head from 2008 to 2013 steered it toward new heights in research and education. Over his career, he has also been instrumental in guiding doctoral candidates as a long-standing member of the Faculty Board of the Ph.D. in Statistics programme.
Professor Veronese’s research focuses on Bayesian, fiducial, and confidence statistical inference, particularly in prior characterization and model construction. His numerous visiting positions, including appointments at Duke University and Carnegie Mellon University, his invited lectures at global conferences and his membership to leading statistical societies, including the International Society for Bayesian Analysis and the American Statistical Association highlight his influence in shaping contemporary statistical thought.
His academic accolades include multiple research and teaching awards from Bocconi University, reflecting his broad commitment to excellence. As an author, his prolific contributions span high-impact journals such as The Annals of Statistics and Journal of the American Statistical Association.
